I have just translated a program with Dr.
Berry Black, chaplain of the US Senate. He wrote this prayer and I thought it
is really appropriate for the end of the year.
Disturb us, oh, Lord,
when we are too well
pleased with ourselves;
when our dreams come true
because we have
dreamed too little;
when we arrived safely simply
because we have sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us when with the abundance of the
things we posses,
we lose our thirst for the waters of life
and having fallen in love with life,
we cease to dream of eternity
and in our effort to build a new earth,
we permit our vision of a New Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, today, more boldly,
to venture on wider seas
where storms will show Your mastery;
where storms will show Your mastery;
when losing sight of land,
we will find Your stars.
we will find Your stars.
